Love it! Good idea to let ze hot Menschen frrom all arround ze Welt say what zey zink!

  2. Zebe Says:

I have been following Sacha Baron Cohen for a long time now. Since his Ali G days, i have all his DVDs (Ali in the USA, Ali G the movie) you name it. I think he is really talented. Borat was his real HOLLYWOOD debut, it was fresh original, creative, brave, exciting and as usual extremely FUNNY.

In regards to BRUNO, i must say i am extremely disappointed, because i expect the movie to that thing to another level. It terms of the scripts, story line and creativity. Instead it was predictable, too extreme it terms of the sexual scene in the cage. It just went to far and the location was not even right. Storyline was rubbish. It was similar to Borat.

I have not lost hope though, because i am a really fan of Sacha Baron Cohen. I am HOPING he comes up with something better.

  3. Arnold Says:

loved it, the ending wasn’t as good as it seemed quite short but other than that..
i think it was funnier than Borat!

  4. Martin Says:

Well I am not going to make a video, but wanted to give you my review…

I am a big fan of the Ali G show and Borat… I usually love Cohen’s humor, but I think you really missed the mark with Bruno. It has some moments, but it feels very staged, incoherent and badly put together. The new approach to the Bruno character is not as good or clever, and we are on only left with a series of shock-value “jokes” that barely gets some laughs. A lot of those sketches were already done on the Ali G show (the psychic reader, gay converter…) and the old ones are actually way better and funnier. Somewhere, you lost what made Bruno a likable, clever character to make him this annoying over-the-top joke. And failed to understand that it is the real reactions of people that made him funny, not the stereotype itself.

  5. ich ileta Says:

ich vould love to leave a review….so here it is… ICH LOVE BRÜNO! He is a very inspiring man! Ze movie is a bit…. repulsive in ze beginning but its halerious!

  6. Sue Porter Says:

    Dear Sacha,
please send $12.50 to Johnny Depp and Christian Bale. After purchasing tickets to your movie, we sat through roughly 15 minutes of it and decided to view something of value. We saw public enemies instead and feel that our ticket money should go to that. If you could send that over asap, it would be much appreciated.
    Thank you

  7. ich ileta Says:

you guys are crazy! ich loved brüno! ich saw borat and Ali G’s, loved everything including thiz documantery! Sasha Boran Cohen ist very talented!!!

  8. lorenna bobbitt Says:

Even though I have loved almost everything Sacha has done in the past, I was really disappointed in Bruno. I think for the most part I have a good sense of humor but thought this movie fell short of good laughs. I wish that it had been funnier with less repulsive- potty humor. Lots of butts- lots of penis’s and pretty scripted overall. I loved the “old Bruno” who appeared in previous films where he was a little more innocent and not so mean spirited. I felt really bad for Ron Paul. Sorry Bruno, I waited so long to see this film but I just didn’t like it.

  9. mary Says:

Overloaded with shock value. I felt like I was watching a porno more than a Hollywood movie. It was too graphic with sexual content. I don’t approve of homosexuality, and to watch two men giving each other anal sex and Sasha Boran Cohen’s penis was too much. I want my money back for the movie ticket! This was not the return of Borat! it was the destruction of Borat!

  10. James Says:

It was Super Short. Probaly the stupidest movie I have seen. The first part really sucked. Mostly the parts that were in the commercial were the best.

  11. James Anderson Says:

Wow this was NOT a good movie !!! Very disapointed. The ads were the best parts of the movie. After what he did with Borat I was looking forward to this movie. I wish I had my money and time back.

  12. S Says:

Ayman Abuaita Is not a terrorist!!!
THIS GUY NEEDS TO GET A LIFE!!!
    HE’s AN IDIOT for REAL!!
he uses innocent people to make himself look funny..but in reality..he’s not..
    HE’s A JERK!!!

  13. Mike R Says:

SBC is a f*ckin homo ass d-bag, who created another shitty ass movie. he’s gay, he just has to admit it.

  14. Lyn Says:

Absolutely agree with Mary – correct, it was like watching a porn movie. I’m no prude but here in NZ they only classified it as R16 – this was over R18 in nature and was absolutely riddiculous. Too much sexual explicit material for one movie that wasn’t even funny! Left after 20 minutes, how I wish I hadn’t wasted my $15.50 on this one.

  15. coleman Says:

to tell the truth. i loved Borat, and was so excited to see Bruno. I just saw it today, and was very disappointed. It was to inappropriate and not funny and original as Borat. All it was, was sex and sex, and him making people mad. Thats all, nothing clumsy or embarrassing. I’m sorry if the fans of the movie don’t agree, but seriously. You have to be the BIGGEST fan of S.B.C.’s work to actually find it better than Borat.

PS. it was a shame watching it. Hope he’ll do better

  16. Kevin Says:

Bruno is starting to sound more like Ali G with a German/Austrian accent… his characters are mixing… needs to check his characters.. Matt Lauer’s interview is one good example.

  17. Martin Says:

I think that those who love Cohen’s humor have no problem with an occasional, offensive, graphic penis joke. It can work very well to get huge laughs and discomfort, as Borat proved it in the past. But this movie failed to do it right.

I was watching Bruno’s old “gay converter” and “christian rock concert” clips on Youtube. I just love how relaxed and innocent he is, working is way and creeping up under people’s skin. It was very clever, very nicely done and we could relate far better with this character as a believable homosexual (as far as stereotypes goes).

Bruno will make more money than everything Cohen as done in the past all put together. But I hope he doesn’t rely on the numbers to measure the movie’s success. His fans are not that pleased with Bruno.

  18. Kelli Says:

Bruno is hillarious! I don’t understand how so many of you didn’t enjoy it, it was EXTREMELY funny i love Sasha Baron Cohen. he’s a very talented guy!! How he doesn’t laugh i dont know haha

  19. Upshtanding Citizen Says:

Bruno had some hilarious moments, but much of the movie was disappointing and predictable.

I give it 2 1/2 fingers out of a possible fist.

  20. Gabriel Fronza Says:

Too bad the movie wont be released here in brazil for like what, 3 months?

  21. Denise Says:

What do you mean that his fans are not pleased with Bruno. Every Sacha fan that I know loves the movie and has seen it at least once and is planning on seeing it again. I’ve seen it 3 times. ranted, it might not be everyone’s cup of tea and I can appreciate where some might find it over the top or offensive. To each their own.

But do not unilaterally proclaim that SBC fans are disappointed or do not like the movie. If you are a long time SBC fan then nothing he did in the film should shock or surprise you. How he got away with it is another matter but then that is what makes him so special. Every time I think he’s pushed the envelope as far as he can he proves me wrong. Again, I’m sitting here thinking there is NO WAY he can top this and sure as I say it out loud I know he will.

Yes, there are similarities between Borat and Bruno in that they are both foreigners coming to the US with different perspectives (gay man/ bass ackward foreigner) but ultimately experiencing the same situations. That says more about US than it does SBC’s movie making. I think that is the point.

Bruno was not about portraying average gay Joe. Bruno is a fashionista diva and has been from the get go. Kudos to Sacha for not changing his character to try to silence the inevitable critics. These characters have remained the same over the years only the size of their screen has changed…

my only regret is that we won’t see Ali G in America on the big screen. I love “In da House” but I’m hoping against hope that SBC will reconsider retiring Ali and we’ll see him in the USA again on the big screen.

  22. emily Says:

IF ONE MORE PERSON CALLS SASHA BARON COHEN GAY I’LL BEAT YOU UP LIKE YOU WON’T IMAGINE HE HAS A WIFE (Isla Fisher) AND A DAUGHTER (Olive) SO SHUT YOUR LIPS AND I WON’T HURT YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BE WARE I’M 12 1/2

  23. Adam Says:

This movie was soooooo bad that I would have rather sat and watched “Dora the Explorer for an entire day than sit through one minute of that movie. I agree with Sue P., but instead of just giving me my money back, I would like the WASTED time also.

  24. Stan Says:

I wish you just showed old Bruno clips from the Ali G show rather than this crap you put on screen. I get it – the joke was on us. We pay to see something that will make most of us very uncomfortable. I’m sorry – I just don’t enjoy watching penis flipping around.

I say shame on the Rating Agencies for making this an R. If it weren’t for the small black boxes this would be an X.

  25. amanda Says:

I found bruno absolutely disgusting. I paid £14 to watch a porno. There was roughly 30 people in the cinema watching this crap and not one person laughed.

The person who thought of putting the baby in a box needs shooting. seriously! what sick person thinks that.

SASHA BARON COHEN YOUR A TOTAL D**K

  26. Jimbo Says:

Its funny for sure. If you’re too straight to look at a penis, then this is not a movie for you. I’m tired of hearing that this movie is too pornographic. Sex is a part of so many movies and penises have been making appearances in alot of new movies: Forgetting Sarah Marshal, Zach and Miri make a porno, etc. The best part is the cage fighting scene. The audience is full of barbaric animals. Very funny SBC. Not as gay as i thought it would be.

  27. Martin Says:

    - “But do not unilaterally proclaim that SBC fans are disappointed or do not like the movie. If you are a long time SBC fan then nothing he did in the film should shock or surprise you.”

Well, Denise, the fact that you love Ali G “In Da House” says a lot about your taste and why maybe you enjoyed Bruno. In Da house was painful to watch and was probably Cohen’s weakest and most unfunny work.

And yes, a lot of fans are disappointed, which doesn’t mean they ALL are. Some do find Bruno better than Borat. But if you actually took some time and read reviews here, as well as on Youtube, you will see that most people don’t find it better as a movie.

I wasn’t shocked or surprised. Not at all. You don’t have to explain to me what he is trying to do or give me the “you don’t get it” statement. I do get it. I get it enough to be objective and not praise everything Cohen craps out.

And btw, for Amanda, if you went seeing this movie not knowing what to expect and shocked after seeing the trailer or borat, then YOU are total d**k. Next time, get informed on the kind of entertainment you are seeking for, you might avoid bad surprises.

  28. Denise Says:

Martin, Sacha at his worst is better than 99% of the crap that is produced as ‘entertainment’, IMO. “Indahouse” was not his best effort and the weakest of the three spin-offs. The film was released in 2002 and Sacha was rather unknown in the US at that time. That is why I would LOVE to see get a re-do that would actually be seen by American audiences. I think with what SBC has learned over the last 7 years and the last two films he could really do an Ali G film some incredible justice.

My hunch is that Sacha will be hamstrung for awhile because no studio is going to want to risk the type of backlash we’ve seen with Bruno even if he could find a way to do it. The formula he used for the characters is now too well known. Thus, Bruno will be the last of the three characters we see on the big screen.

The glass will be seen as half empty rather than half full. The fact that a movie about an openly and flamboyantly gay man was number one for even a week will be lost. The focus and emphasis will be on the film’s decline. I happen to think Bruno was a film before it’s time. Many people are not ready for the idea of gays being married. They sure in the hell are not ready to see them being sexual beings especially in a form of paid entertainment.

Where I think Sacha erred was losing focus on the love story in the film. By the time we saw Bruno’s evolution to human being, it was already lost in the spectacle of jaw dropping images of crazy antics and over the top nudity.

  29. Frederico Melo Says:

Seems like I’m one of the few people who really enjoyed SBC last movie.Once again, Sacha shows an enourmous and rare to find talent! As an actor, he is really good.Every character he creates looks like somone absolutely different. The pronunciation, the gestures.I know people who thing they are different actors…I don´t agree that he makes fun of peolple.I actualy think that people makes fun of themselfs. He just, once again, in his style, makes not much than criticize the ignorance and lack of vision, that many people still have in 2009. And the fact that peolple attack him, verbaly or even phisicaly, just shoes their own agressivity.

Ali G, Borat an Bruno, are masterpieces on humor, talent and revolution in mentality.

  30. Pedro Lopes Says:

I dont understand how people gets so shocked by watching a penis in a movie, when nowadays, lets be honest, the acess to pornography is so easy!!Every kid can see that, and does see that… And i believe SBC does not use those explicit scenes just to shock people.
I believe he is more inteligent than that. what he does is to show how sex became an absolute obsession in this society.

  31. Wesmantooth Says:

Thought the movie was very good and understand that a lot of people might not thinks so as well,Every one has there own opinion.
I just have one question. All the people who walked out of the movie or said it was disgusting or too explicate,Why did you go to see it in the first place,It clearly has a high age restriction and is advertised everywhere,I mean come on what were you expecting.
I have no pity on the people who walked out and “lost money”.
    People are way too sensitive.
You’d watch a show or movie were someone get chopped up or blown up decapitated.
This is exactly the kind of people he bases his movies on.Ignorant people.
Although I do think it wasn’t as good as the clips from the Ali G show.
Will probably get a lot of people saying crap about this, but hey just more stupid and ignorant people.

  32. Wesmantooth Says:

I did think it was better that Borat! though.
But still not as good as the show.
    Very clever movie.

  33. Heather Says:

I thought the movie was discusting and vile and extremely distastful. I went to the movie expecting some good laughs and was surprised to be so discusted! I couldn’t even sit through the whole thing. I am surprised it even made it to the big screen. I wish I could get my money back!!

  34. Spaghetti Says:

I’d love to IQ test Bruno lovers and haters. My guess is, by and large:

    Bruno lovers > mean
    Bruno haters < mean

    Just a hunch.

  35. LPG Says:

This movie sucked! cohen is a fucking homophobic shithead. why would he (or anyone) think this would be a funny movie. why would any studio agree to release this? it was offensive in every way. would anyone find a white guy in blackface raping a white woman while drinking a 40 and eathing KFC funny? this movie did everything it could to reinforce every negative fucked up stereotype of gay men. Cohen is an asshole.

  36. Evie Eve Says:

Wow I really must be in the minority. I thought Bruno was absolutely brilliant, and SHOCKINGLY funny. I was still laughing the next day. The risks he takes and the types of situations he sets up demonstrates the fact that SBC really is underrated as a comic genius. You need a certain level of social intelligence to set up and get away with the kind of stunts he pulls, and he is a great social commentator with his finger on the pulse. Yeah, at times it felt like a porno, but what he also does so well is think of ways to show funny and sexually explicit scenes that are not actual porn (ie the simulated blow-job, genius!) I don’t normally like toilet humour but the way SBC does is just makes it so hiarious, granted I was one of the few people in the cineam laughing but it was laughs of shocked disbelief too, and at how cleverly done it was. People just don’t think its clever cos they are clouded by their being offended by the images…but I try to get over the explicitness and just love how he shows unsuspecting people at their worst. I loved Borat but thought Bruno was far more intelligently done and even more bold. However if I was gay, devout Christian or black it may be a different story…because as it stands I wasn’t personally offended by any of it. I have a newfound respect for SBC, he just keeps coming up with the goods!!

  37. Alan James Says:

Bruno is a smart movie. The set-up for extreme irony still makes me chuckle. Every time I think of Paula Abdul sitting on Mexican Chair people talking about her humanitarian work… I shake my head as I realize the silliness of human ego. Bruno was filmed performance art shown at a movie theater with spontaneous audience participation. How amazing is that to pull off? It was sobering to sit watching a show that really had an impact on the audience. Some people got up and walked out while others were laughing their head off. For some, their hatred of all things Gay, their torqued sexual attitudes and fundamental beliefs were overloaded and they had to leave confused and angry and unable to process what they were seeing. Hopefully Bruno plants a seed of a question in their consciousness that may sprout later, but probably not. I could hardly contain my laughter and surprise at the times when Bruno showed us what lies just under the surface of our social order. Bruno showed us that people will sell anything… even their own children; alternatively Bruno showed us people fierce and insistent that an adopted child should be protected from him. At times, I would compare Bruno to Steven Colbert’s address to the Annual White House Press Dinner in front of President Bush. I couldn’t believe what was happening. I was busting a gut laughing and thinking of all the social commentary thinly masked by absurd irony. I was so glad in the final wrestling match that those filming the melt down of the men in the audience also filmed the amazed expression of the shocked women watching their men possessed by powerful homophobic seizures of disgust. This show may not produce the short term revenue that Borat did but people could learn a whole lot by deconstructing the attitudes and social systems that make a movie like Bruno possible. I want to say “Thank you” to those who brought us Bruno. It reminded me to take a deep breath and respond from my peaceful self next time I meet a situation or person I find absurd. Mr. Cohen may be trying to capture my response on film for the amusement of others.

  38. Janet Says:

This movie should not be rated R. It shouldn’t be playing in movie theaters. It is pornography. There are obscenity laws in this country. If you want to watch porn, fine. Do so in the privacy of your home. I was a fan, but now I won’t even watch Madagascar or anything else SBC does. My daughter and I walked out, and demanded our money back. This movie is morally reprehensible. I have gay friends who are even more offended by this movie than I am. Shame on you, SBC, and everyone else involved in making this movie.

  39. Janet Says:

So why is my comment awaiting moderation?

  40. brunofilm Says:

You people crack me up. How could you not know this movie would be over the top? The people at the theaters tell you over and over what type of content will be in this film. No one forced you to watch it, it was on your own free will. Considering that Borat was naked fighting the fat dude in the movie, how could you not expect it to be more extreme with a movie about a gay guy?? Come on, use common since. It’s people like you who SBC will make fun of next because you’re so dumb to go watch something just so you can complain about it and say how you don’t like the movie that is doing the best at the box office.

Also, I disagree with the people that say this is almost a porno. It shows a dick for less than 10 seconds other than that, it’s censored out. I see a dick for longer than that every time I have to piss. I think the people offended by Bruno are severely insecure about their own sexuality and have totally missed the true purpose of this film. I think what SBC is doing is amazing and no one else has even come close to being this creative. Keep doing what you do Baron Cohen, you are a genius!

  41. Rachel Says:

Sacha Baron Cohen can do no wrong. Absolute brilliance, hilarious. If I hear someone say they don’t like Bruno, I think there has to be something wrong with them. Suck my dick haters!

  42. amy Says:

i liked bruno.. i did think it was funny, but i don’t think that was the purpose of the movie, and that’s not why i liked it.
Mr. Cohen showed how much people hate gays in this country. He showed the homophobia of our country. he was (in my opinion) trying to stress a point. Maybe he was trying to show that we SHOULD be more accepting of gays because that’s what i saw in the movie. the movie shows real life and real people and what is really going on and he shows what a hard time gays have fitting in in american society, so maybe we should listen to Sacah Baron Cohen and be more open minded. For this reason i LOVED bruno. i strongly believe that was Mr. Cohen’s goal of Bruno. well done.

  43. katie q. Says:

when i saw bruno i was not discusted by the penis flopping about or the sex scenes, because hey, that’s reality, but i was HORRIFIED by the ignorance people.
i believe that was mr. cohen’s purpose, not to be funny, but to show the ignorance and intollerance of people. he did well.

  44. katie m. Says:

emily, i agree with you, i’m 12 1/2 too. people CLEARLY didn’t see the point of the movie. and really you knew what bruno was all about so get over it. it’s showing reality.

  45. Mariposa, Canada Says:

My husband and I went to see Bruno and we loved it. We went to see it again last night and enjoyed it just as much. It is a truly funny movie. Some people are coming hard on SBC but what about those outrageous people who would do anything for their child to be photographed ? And how about that « gay converter » who thinks that women are annoying but nevertheless indispensable ? Or those red necks who just about lost it when they saw two men kissing ? Aren’t those behaviors the ones that should be frowned upon ? And wasn’t that the real goal of the movie, to reveal these behaviors ?

  46. Wesmantooth Says:

Im sorry but an IQ Test wont show if your mean or not.

  47. Ruben Says:

It was the worst piece of s* I ever see. If you can give my money back I will be thankful.

  48. Ruben Says:

I’m back here just to let you all now that my review is negative and the people in this site deleted it. So I do it again. Bruna was the worst garbage I ever see, If you can give my money back I will appreciate.
The film is lame, I felt sick seeing it. Don’t understant who put money on something like that. I fell sorry by the people who did it.
