A tasteless scene from the fashion comedy Bruno has been cut following Michael Jackson’s shocking death.
The studio in charge of the movie made a last minute edit in time for it’s Hollywood premiere on Thursday night featuring Sacha Baron Cohen.
See photos & video of the Hollywood premiere of Bruno
In the cut scene Bruno interviews LaToya Jackson in his chic LA apartment – after getting her to sit on his “chairs” – which are Mexican workers bending over – who then serve her sushi of the hairy body of a naked man.
Bruno proceeds to steal her cell phone so that he can copy Michael Jackson’s number dowm.
The original version of the film has already premiered in London, Paris and Berlin with the comic attracting a lot of attention because of his fancy dress.
Last minute cuts to a big-budget movie like Bruno are almost unheard of – the film opens across America on July, 10, 2009, and is being distributed by Universal Pictures in the US.
At last night’s Los Angeles premiere in Hollywood the red carpet for Bruno actually covered-up Michael Jackson’s official star on the walk of fame.
Stunned fans unwittingly laid tributes at another location because they could not access his area to lay down flowers and other souvenirs.
When asked about Jackson’s death, Cohen declined to comment.

Jagshemash! I think it was a good move to cut it out, although I dont deny I would have like to have seen it.
Hope its as good as Borat.
June 26th, 2009 at 10:29 am
That kinda sucks. But is understandable? I saw the premiere, and it was a funny scene. Hopefully it makes it to the deleted scenes in the DVD??
June 26th, 2009 at 10:29 am
“Tasteless”? Just because the joke has something to do with some who just died doesn’t mean it’s tasteless. These kinds of things always piss me off. If it should have been in the movie before yesterday’s news, it should be in the movie now.
June 26th, 2009 at 10:42 am
It’s good that it was cut, but I hope it gets leaked onto the internet so people can see it if they want
June 26th, 2009 at 10:55 am
People are too sensitive. This sucks.
June 26th, 2009 at 10:59 am
that wrong..he is not being disrespectful…..it in poor taste that radio stations who have not played him in years are playing his songs only today
June 26th, 2009 at 11:06 am
Michael Jackson’s dead?
June 26th, 2009 at 11:24 am
I saw this scene at an early NYC preview!
THIS IS DISGUSTING, AMERICA!!!
Cutting the scene because it’s “tasteless” is against everything his work is!!! His comedy is a brilliant and profound commentary on America’s values (or lack thereof). LA TOYA JACKSON IS TASTELESS for sitting on another human being during an interview (regardless of race)- not the scene!!!
If people weren’t such bleeding hearts they would understand that’s the genius of his work! It’s usually the ones that don’t “get his comedy” that he’s making fun of!
GROW UP AMERICA- WHAT? ARE YOUR FEELINGS HURT??!!! BOO HOO SoooO F-ing WHAAAT??
Michael Jackson will always be a vanguard, a legend who revolutionized the face of music- his death won’t change that (in fact it will only instill his position as the King of Pop). HOWEVER, someone else’s art shouldn’t EVER be compromised because we are afraid of hurting someone’s feelings.
I can only hope that Sacha himself didn’t consent to do this and was forced by the business into this!
June 26th, 2009 at 12:05 pm
That’s smart. There’s a boundary. I’m sure it will end up as a DVD bonus feature.
June 26th, 2009 at 12:34 pm
Dude, that is crap, who cares about that freak, he was good in the eighties, then he went white, that geezer is a shit fer brains, and nobody cares about him. You shouldn’t cut the part just because He died all of the sudden. Screw him.
June 26th, 2009 at 1:57 pm
adam please have some respect
June 26th, 2009 at 3:27 pm
Fuc#k you Adam, you have no idea what r u talking about, your the freak, and compare to MJ u are nothing and u will never be anything, fuc#k u
June 26th, 2009 at 3:29 pm
OK, this is crap. If it was a joke about me and I died, I would be glad to just get my name in the movie. I really wouldn’t care. Grow up, America! This is ridiculous. And about the star being covered up, who cares? I don’t have a star. If I was to die tomorrow, no one would care if I had one or not. You don’t NEED to go see his star and put flowers on it. If you wanna do something like that, go put them at his home, not a sidewalk.
June 26th, 2009 at 3:47 pm
Jon, I admit I find it hard to respect Michael Jackson. I won’t go as far as Adam, but this wasn’t a man who strived to be understated or discreet. He put himself out there, and therefore put himself up for public judgment. If he really wanted a quiet life left alone he would have been more like Johnny Depp.
I don’t think this should have been cut, the whole point of this movie is to be tasteless. Like it or leave it, but don’t try to water it down. The Strokes released their first album in 2001, post 9/11 and cut the song “New York City Cops” because it included the line “they ain’t too smart”. Although I’m not sure I agree with that censorship, at least those men and women had just done something valient and brave. MJ-not quite…
June 26th, 2009 at 6:10 pm
mj was a child abuser he only got off the charges because he was rich and could pay off the familys he was a great artist but it all was too much for him to handle the same is happening to britney, fair 1 cutin the film but it should be avaliable if you want to see it
June 26th, 2009 at 7:09 pm
Very true, Katie.
June 26th, 2009 at 7:40 pm
Censorship is telling someone they have to cut it out or delete something, or burn something so no one can ever see it.
Deleting that scene is just good moral decency for a change in Hollywood.
Whether or not MJ was guilty of anything or not, no longer matters, he should have been known for his music and videos-
Michael Jackson will never be one of these mass produced “celebrities” but an icon, not matter what anyone says on an anonymous blogging post like this.
June 26th, 2009 at 7:41 pm
Wow, I swear that I remember seeing this in one of the previews, yet I can’t find it anywhere. Someone needs to post it.
June 26th, 2009 at 8:59 pm
Well it obviously wasn’t too tasteless to be shown before MJ’s death, now that he’s not around to be offended by it why should it matter?
June 27th, 2009 at 12:37 am
Whether Michael Jackson was a person worth respecting is completely irrelevant here. What’s annoying is that the scene was clearly considered good enough to be included before the news of Jackson’s death, and the cut was clearly made just to make a movie, that’s meant to be extremely politically incorrect, more politically correct. The cut just compromises the integrity of the film. It’s LAME.
June 27th, 2009 at 4:25 am
That´s very nice!
On the DVD Bonus Feature?
June 27th, 2009 at 4:26 am
Who’s Michael Jackson?
June 27th, 2009 at 6:44 am
Cutting shows that it was tastless as is this movie, walking on Michaels star on the day of his death just around the corner is even worse, did they laugh at the premiere and the party after, a little more respect would have been in place
June 27th, 2009 at 7:18 am
well I think there will be more people upset that it’s been cut than the idiots that would have been offended had it been left in. they should have asked the family how they felt about it being used and if they were ok with it then it should have stayed. The scene is not tasteless and would not upset people….it would just make them remember him more.
Hope we get to see the original version
RIP Wacko
June 27th, 2009 at 9:34 am
premier on the day of mj’s death, tasteless mj scene, covering up of mj’s star on the walk of fame. for some reason, this is just so funny to me.
June 27th, 2009 at 10:08 am
Dont you think its funny considereing that this film is suppsed tp be provocative and not politically correct, and then they cut seens that such as this.
Films or Art, what ever, should be thought provocing, and get you to think about your own values, I think sasha along with other artists such as the UK based graffiti artist “Banksey” should be shown regardless. Its these none-intimidating radical ideas that help to change society for the good. Hiding from what realy there will just ulimatly ensure conflicts and devision grows throughout the world continues and could put presure on are economical trading as seen during WW2 between allied and nazi occupied counties, if differences are not recognised.
Regardless, People should have the option to view these secenes now rather then later. The controversy could cause outrage, but ulimatly would create a vast amount of publisity for the film.
Cheers, Sb.
(Ps. Pardon the spelling)
June 27th, 2009 at 10:14 am
I agree with you Showboat.
Why did they use women in the US preview and “gay” men in all the other contrys?
If they wanted it to be provocative why didnt they have all the women that was in army uniform as gay men in army uniform?
And with the jacko, Lets just say the studio is Wacko!
June 27th, 2009 at 10:15 am

That sucks!
Just because he’s passed away doesn’t mean it can stop other peoples careers!
Socha is a funny guy and deserves every credit of the movie, not for the funniest parts to be removed!
I wasn’t keen on borat but i loved ali g and im gunna love this film
Whoever gets hurt by the fact he has died needs to get some real feelings to be honest.
Hope its in the bonus features.
June 27th, 2009 at 11:04 am
tasteless? don’t you think covering michael jacksons star and letting people walk all over it on the day of his death is more tasteless and disrespectful? bruno is a COMEDY, it’s not supposed to offend anyone.
June 27th, 2009 at 11:18 am
I honestly think the scene shouldn’t have been cut! MJ was a Child Molesting freak, and deserves to go to hell for what he did! I think the world needs to get over MJ and move the F*** On with their lives. what if one of your children where taken advantage of by this sick puppy, you would want justice, too bad that if your famous and rich you don’t have to suffer or pay the same penalties as the other ppl in the world. Heres a thought Lets go to a prison and release the harden criminals back on to our streets Let them rape our wives, kids, and murder our families. Lets then make fun of them in a movie. would you care????
The actions of other’s affect everyone in some way. MJ If he didn’t molest the kiddies and continued with his music and then died. It would be a good call out of respect to remove him from this picture. but since that is not the case to be honest I don’t respect him one bit and I hope he burns for all of his sins and I am not a religious type either but I am a father and I have a wonderful family I would protect them from anything I possibly could.
I Have said what I needed to my rant is over.
Just keep it in mind, for all you MJ fans (He Liked the kiddies and you are pretty much saying thats ok, not a problem) and that disturbs me. Absolutely no child deserves to be abused or taken advantage of!!! Plain and Simple.
June 27th, 2009 at 12:27 pm
Haha! you people who keep telling people america to grow up and leave it in there are idiots. taking the scene out was the responsible thing to. so stop telling everyone else to grow up and stop being suck insensitive a$$holes! by taking that scene out they are saving themselves a lot of crap. taking it out was a smart move on the film makers’ parts. and then think about his family. how would you feel if you were greiving over one of your lost loved ones only to find out that a box office hit is comletely degrading him. you would like that at all. so why should anyone expect the jackson family to have to deal with that. so you people need to get over it and learn to care about someone other than yourselves. you are just pissed cause you wont get to see it! o well you will be just fine! talk about needing to grow up!
June 27th, 2009 at 1:12 pm
Carlos- Stop being such a f*cking baby! MJ was an musical artist, you didn’t know him personally. He was a PEDOPHILE. So many seem to have forgotten this, choosing just to see him as a musician. So many stupid, nutty fans thinking “omg, michael died, i knew him,” when really, none of you actually knew him personally. Go ahead, get mad at someone if they poke fun at someone YOU ACTUALLY PERSONALLY KNEW, and isn’t a public figure! Moral of the story… stop being whiney b*tches!
June 27th, 2009 at 1:15 pm
Tasteless? Isn’t the whole reason we are going to see it is because the whole movie is tasteless? I might understand these actions, if the scene was about princess Diana, Mother Teresa or 911 victims, but Michael Jackson? His life was a parody of himself and only increasingly so because of his death. If anything, use the clip to promote the movie. You’d get all sorts of publicity you wouldn’t otherwise, and I can’t think of how it could be considered “cross the line”.
June 27th, 2009 at 5:06 pm
okay..this banter is a great new South Park episode…v. funny…really
June 27th, 2009 at 5:43 pm
I assume most of you havnt been in education that long, due to the fact that you never look at both sides of the argument, and to be honest some of you have to loosen up, not everyone is an “idiot” and if you think some one should go and die in hell, why not keep that comment to your self? What would you do if your PResident came and said, “Allah Bless America?”.
June 27th, 2009 at 10:25 pm
All of u who r defending Michael Jackson make me fuckng sick. He touched little kids. Rest in piss. Fuckin pedophile sympathizers.
June 28th, 2009 at 3:33 am
This really needs to be seen, it’s such a shame that his death is ruining everything but wall street…
if he had waited till the movie was showed it would be heaps better.
it was a good decision to cut it but im almost sure that it will be on the DVD’s deleted scenes.
June 28th, 2009 at 6:38 am
Hello people calling him a paedo… He was aquitted… innocent until proven guilty and he was not guilty have some remorse let him rest in peace… if you think bad things of him keep it to yourself… if you’ve nothing nice to say dont say anything at all!!!
Go raibh maith agat!!!:)
June 28th, 2009 at 10:48 am
no need for that scene to be cut. i think it shows how great michael was that even Bruno wanted his number!
June 28th, 2009 at 11:02 am
I want to see the funny MJ jokes, less all remember him as he was meant to be remembered, as a joke. You rock MJ, I guess your heart just could not “Beat It”. Too bad your life was a “Thriller” of a good time. What is it like to be dead “Is it Scary?”, I guess not or else we would have heard you “Scream”. Now one must look at “The Man in the Mirror” and ask ourselves if we have what it takes to be a “Smooth Criminal” like MJ. Things are not so “Black and White” anymore. “Smile” MJ because “You Are Not Alone” there and plenty of “Superfly Sisters” that have passed on. Please “Don’t Walk Away” we thought you were “Invincible” I guess even plastic men die too.
June 29th, 2009 at 1:08 am
BIG JOHN while I disagree with your throughts on MJ, you are a FUCKING GENIUS. Tasteless is so vague. There is a difference between respect and catering to overly sensitive idiots. Michael Jackson is a genius and should be remembered as such but this should not stop art (Yes I think all movies are art in some way or another including porn).
June 29th, 2009 at 3:59 am
Are you serious?
That is nice if he did.
Gosh, all you bogans wanting to see it for your ‘comedic desires’ is just alarming. I bet most of you don’t even realise ‘Bruno’ is a satire representation of the treatment of homosexual people.
June 29th, 2009 at 4:36 am
Movies are designed to make money idiots. Cutting MJ’s scene is not only respectful for the dead and the appropriate thing to do, but leaving it in will cause Hollywood to boycott it and encourage others to do so. Who’s Sasha Baron? A comedic god who walks on water, or a money-making capitalist like the rest of us? I’ve finally realised the general public are a bunch of morons.
June 29th, 2009 at 9:40 am
Who’s Michael Jackson anyway?
June 29th, 2009 at 10:57 am
Billy Jean and touching kids! Wow I’m in awe of the man.Fuck him and fuck you Carlos you sad prick! Fuck celebrity worship!
June 29th, 2009 at 11:05 am
Carlos, are you that Micheal Jackson impersonator who been all over Aussie TV crying for that freak? You are yeah.Ha Ha! He’s laughing at you. Slap you out.
June 29th, 2009 at 2:37 pm
Maybe dead men DO wear plaid!
June 29th, 2009 at 7:24 pm
These scenes were not cut out of respect to MJ. They were cut so that the scenes did not offend the wrong critics who would pan the movie and call it “distasteful”. A bad review means less moviegoers…
MJs music will live on, but so will his reputation. It is what it is…
June 29th, 2009 at 11:30 pm
Bran, I was worried that it wouldn’t live up to Borat, but you have no reason to be concerned. I saw it last night and it is absolutely hilarious.
“my asshole is just for shitting!” is a quote my friends and i are going to use just as much as “high five” and “niiice”
June 30th, 2009 at 5:43 am
I totally agree with Shannon – it makes economic sense to cut the scene so close to MJ’s death. It’s also Sacha’s way of showing tact whether you agree with it or not. The fact is, Jackson touched many people’s lives across America… I however, prefer to remember him for his music.
July 1st, 2009 at 1:30 am
its all so gay
July 1st, 2009 at 1:31 am
he looks so gay in that gear, thats great mate give me more of that
July 1st, 2009 at 2:04 am
It sucks that they cut it… but I’m sure it’ll be on the DVD.
July 1st, 2009 at 3:55 am
Whats worng with you Michael Jackson haters. He FREAKIN passed away and ur saying all this disgusting, rude things about him. I SAY SHOW SOME FREAKIN RESPECT. MJ passed away and should be remembered as the KING OF POP not a freakin pedo or whatever ur calling him. do mu really want his kids knowing this. I for one want his kids to know him as the king of pop, a great musican and the man who changed music. so show some damn respect how whould u like it if ppl were saying these things about u if you pass away. Plus i think it was a great move to cut that scene from Sacha’s movie cause that shows he cares for his death. THE KING OF POP WILL LIVE ON. RIP Michael Jackson.
July 1st, 2009 at 7:04 am
Proper spelling of Borat’s greeting: Jak się masz
).All the best from Poland.
July 1st, 2009 at 8:43 am
There is reality and there is ideology (Fantasy). The MJ scene cutting was a good decision. This is reality. That’s why Bruno went ahead and did it. Without the cut, his movie may get into trouble (make less money).
July 3rd, 2009 at 12:39 am
Although I’m like soo positive it would have been a hilarious scene. And it just sounds so priceless. Really. But let’s look at it this way.
Atleast sacha has the heart to pay respects right?
I mean, afterall, that is the morally right thing to do. That was very considerate of him.
And although I hear it was a highlight of the movie…oh well
And apparently it won’t even make it to DVD.
But seriously.
If they kept it, ppl wud b pissed. And now they got rid of it… Ppl still pissed.
July 5th, 2009 at 8:48 am
Lol all these idolizers will be punished when they die. Idol worship is at its worst.. Maybe our destruction like those cities in the bible is soon at hand?
July 10th, 2009 at 12:51 am
To all you disrespectful f#$%’s, i thought all you Americans were innocent until proven guilty, obviously not. Hipocrits. I hope it turns around and bites you in the a$$ one day where you are proved innocent and seen as guilty until you die….oh wait it doesn’t matter cause nobody gives a f#$%. MJ gave more to underprivileged kids and people of the world than the whole lot of you a$$e$ put together…so keep your worthless opinions to yourself and try making a positive impact in this world…let’s see how far you get…..i suggest all you haters start by shutting the f@#$ up…..that would be a good positive
July 12th, 2009 at 4:24 pm
I’m glad the offensive scene was cut. Let the dead rest in peace and judge not lest you be judge. MJ gave over 300 million dollars to charitable foundations supporting children. He provided hospital equipment for children all over the world. Ranting about people having committed crimes that the law has proven that they did not commit is biased and self-righteous and anti-civic bigotry. After an extensive investigation and public trial, MJ was found to be INNOCENT. People with self-righteous pride who make hateful statements like “freak, and deserves to go to hell” are setting an example for a society of hate mongers, not a society of respectful citizens. Name-calling anyone in offensive, ugly terms is inhumane. I hope your children have opportunity for role models that are caring and respectful as MJ’s kids had.
July 13th, 2009 at 10:37 am
MJ ???? great performer in the 70´s and 80´s … but thats it ….. for me
Hes been a sick man with two faces …. like the whole Jackson Family … its all about money … they dont even care too use the children for PR things at the Ceremony even against their will … but leaving out the scene for the moment is ok … because respect a dead person is a must so short after it happened …. I hope after a while everyone is free too watch it somewhere
July 13th, 2009 at 8:31 pm
tasteless? as if. People over react about so much. If he didnt die, they would have called it tasteless…non of the other celebrity gags in the film were called tasteless.
i think the scene being cut was very considerate but now it’s just art.
get over it…bruno is awesome!!!
Sacha baron cohen rules!
