Bruno movie makes Borat look like kids TV

Bruno Movie Reviews

Immediately after the screening for the Bruno Movie, fans and critics alike hit the internet with raving reviews. For those of you who were not lucky enough to see the sneak peak of 20 minutes of raw, unedited film, this is how it went down.

Sacha Baron Cohen had filmed segments, to introduce three scenes which had not been edited down for the feature film yet, specifically for SXSW   Using a highly exaggerated British accent, Sacha Baron Cohen explained to the audience what they were going to see in each of the 3 sequences.

SPOILER ALERT!

Watch Critics Reviews:

The first sequence showed Bruno interviewing unsuspecting parents about what their toddlers could and couldn’t do in a photoshoot. “Is your baby comfortable with bees, wasps, and hornets?” Bruno asks. Some of these stage moms and are willing to put their children through anything just for a shot in front of the camera.  Bruno then steps it up a bit and asks how much the women’s daughter weighs. “About 30 pounds” the women replies. “I’m not looking for the Scarlett Johansson type, I’m looking for the Nicole Ritchie type…can your daughter lose 10 pounds in 7 days?”

At this point you would think these moms would get up and leave…but no! “We can try. I think she can do it” the women responds. “Would you consider liposuction” You would have to be out of your damn mind, would be my response. But yet again they surprise us with, “If she can’t lose the weight in 7 days we’d consider that as a last resort”. Then, to top it all off, we find out that the gig is to hire one girl to dress up as a Nazi officer pushing a wheelbarrow with a 3 year old dressed as a Jew into a furnace. “It sounds theatrical. As long as she gets the gig”.

The second sequence is from later on in the film when Bruno adopts an African baby. Bruno goes on a fake talk show to discuss the problems of being a single parent. Bruno is now looking for a well equipped black man to be his partner so he doesn’t have to raise the child alone. He shows photos of his baby from the earlier photoshoot posing as Christ on a cross. The audience does not take too fondly of this.

In the last sequence, Bruno turns himself into an ultra-straight, redneck, Straight Dave. Dave is a heterosexual, homophobic, mans man. When Dave faces off as an ultimate fighter in the steel cage, the audience, mostly made up of beer drinking, confederate flag waiving men, is not to happy about the way things are turning out. When Straight Dave announces that “any gays in the audience should leave now” a man (another actor) confronts him and enters the cage to settle the disagreement. This turns into a kissing match with the men making out and touching each other. The stunned audience becomes enraged and begin to riot.

  1. Mimi Says:

From these descriptions, it sounds like this movie is TRYING to be offensive, and that’s always lame.

  2. Straight Dave Says:

Actually, that makes it absolutely hilarious. Your difference of opinion makes you lame. ^^^

  3. Dangerous Dave Says:

Let me guess Mimi, your from the south.

  4. duh Says:

That makes it completely hilarious..lol..Pure genius

  5. Joe Says:

this movie looks like it will be funny, but why the hell does this dude always put man-on-man nudity in his movies? i mean, cummon, even girls think that’s disgusting. and i don’t think any fags will even see this since Sacha is going to be imitating a gay personl; so there’s no need for gay nudity. I understand the point is that the movie is trying to be offensive, but sometimes that makes what you’re watching just stupid (for instance, newer south park episodes).

  6. Hell Says:

Gays, nazi’s and a black baby hanging on a cross… the guy is trying too hard. This is going to be retarded. Enjoy.

  7. Kid from Alabama Says:

actually im from the south and i think this is going to be my favorite movie… Not all ppl from the south are homophobes.[although MOST of them are]

  8. SdB Says:

Joe, you’re an idiot. This is going to be brilliant.

  9. Jade Says:

Haha love the coment Joe, like ‘gay nudity’ is that much different to normal nudity haha

  10. Owen Says:

Im a strong republican but i still think this movie looks really funny. Sure its offensive but it doesnt go over the line. and its not like you have never seen a penis before Joe.

  11. adam Says:

Jim: wow, so right away thanks for your casual bigotry, saying you doubt fags will see this (why wouldnt we?) and that he’s bein an offensive stereotype (yeh obviously, just like BORAT was). The actual point to his behavior is to expose the GUY OFF THE STREETS BIGOTRY. way to read into shit, you genius you.

yeh and only the INSANELY PERVERSE could enjoy male on male nudity. even tho the selection in Borat wasnt exactly YOUR IDEA OF ATTRACTIVE, what gives you the right to suggest that there isnt something for everyone, you narrow-minded fuck?

  13. Laura Says:

I think it’s good to laugh at yourself-we all take things too seriously these days, everything has to be politically correct, blah, blah, blah. I saw the trailers and they looked so funny. I’m black and I thought the scene where he adopts the African baby is hilarious-especially watching the outrage from the African-American audience…i.e. ‘O.J.’ as an ‘African-American’ name! It’s a wonder that this man even survives to complete his movies! I think Bruno is going to #1 movie-definitely!

  14. iPEEDmyself Says:

#1 – This is going to be hilarious, no question. Anyone who doubts he can pull it off or that people will fall for it watch Da Ali G show.

#2 – Trying to hard? So by your definition he should not push the envelope? Would you prefer a movie based on knock-knock jokes?

Adam, Is fag an offensive word?

  17. Meg Says:

    Yes fag is offensive!
People should really grow up, the movie is meant to raise these issues, it’s helping to address them! like the whole army thing, it says in that article that when they found out what he had done they raised the security, its just pointing out the obvious!

  18. kissy Says:
